in conversation with Daniel Häni
Berlin, Basel, two foundations, same name. Points of contact in the 2000s. What is the difference between philosophy and anthroposophy? What is the relationship between esotericism and the public? What is a cultural impulse? Bodo von Plato provides probing answers. It is crucial to reconcile certain dualisms of modern societies: the one between culture and nature; the one between a culture whose society is “completed” and one whose society is “coming about,” and the one between idea and action. This requires an awareness of the past, in order to shape a vision of the future that declares its core to be the development and fulfillment of the individual potential of each person. If philosophical matters are anchored in real action, impulses from culture can be formulated without anticipating the process with a totalitarian claim as to what is right and what is wrong.
You can hear what all this has in common with the idea of an unconditional basic income, with the “Unternehmen Mitte”, or with understanding what washing machines do in Daniel Häni’s and Bodo von Plato’s conversation in the podcast from the Kaffeehaus.
