Background
The Public Secrets initiative keeps a «chronicle of the future», organizes «organs of perception for political ideas», gathers and curates designs for the future and investigates the emerging development issues. A central vision is a «House for Nothing».
Recognizing public secrets and making them productive is the core business of the initiative’s teams, which are organized as an ensemble. Public Secrets now focuses on the following publicly relevant issues:
WHO DO I ACTUALLY WORK FOR?
Is ordinary work a social or an anti-social process? To what extent does this affect the question of our social welfare systems and fiscal matters? Can a present-day social contract be derived from this research?
WHO DECIDES WHAT CONCERNS ME?
To what extent am I being addressed personally in a democracy? Who and what should be included or excluded? Is it true that collaborative decisions are preferable, and if so, in what way?
IS IT TRUE THAT I ONLY LIVE ONCE?
Which consequences result from the answer to this question? Are there any historical, sociological and theological explanations? How is fate and chance related? To what extent does this concern my accountability?
Neither theoretical nor programmatic approaches can provide answers to this type of question. The Public Secrets Ensemble understands however, that these are processes of growth that happen neither in a straight line, nor without any (mis)fortune. In wanting to create something truly future-oriented, we will let go of the familiar and cross the void. In this respect, the ensemble strives for «nothing».
